Whether they're lush and over the top or paired with the perfect decor pieces, floral installations at events today help tell a story and create FOMO when every attendee wants to post a snap of them with it the next day.

We've seen some stunning florals—created by talented florists and floral studios—in the last year. Keep scrolling to see some of our favorites...

Last summer, CBS celebrated its original series Ghosts with an immersive FYC activation in Los Angeles. Drawing inspiration from the show’s free-spirited character Flower, the brand hosted the two-part “Flower’s Flower” activation. Kicking off the day was a takeover of Alfred’s Coffee Melrose Place, where guests were gifted custom floral bouquets along with free coffee and limited NFT giveaways. Renowned celebrity florist Jeff Leatham created custom-designed florals draped over a VW van, which was stationed outside for photo ops. BMF was the creative and production agency behind the activations.

Last year, 'FEMMES' traveled to cities around the world to host more than 35 free pop-up shows featuring floral-clad mannequins of trailblazing women, such as this one of Queen Elizabeth, which was crafted by 'fleur'ist Amie Bone and inspired by how the Queen appeared in the painting 'The Ditchley Portrait.' In the days leading up to the 2023 Grammys, The Recording Academy honored hip-hop legends Dr. Dre, Missy Elliott, Lil Wayne, and Sylvia Rhone at its Black Music Collective event, held at the Hollywood Palladium. The event was designed and produced by MVD Inc., which drew inspiration from 'the transformative nature of hip-hop,' co-founder Massah David told BizBash. 'With this being the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, we wanted to create an atmosphere that lived up to the legacy. The design for every touchpoint of the event was audacious, opulent, and visually dynamic—something that would truly reflect the trendsetting spirit of hip-hop culture.' It's no surprise that one of our favorite recent floral installations hails from the famous Philadelphia Flower Show, the nation's largest flower show. At the 2023 iteration, the top winner in the Landscape Design category went to IllExotics' exhibit, dubbed 'Studio Exotica.' Really diving into the 'electric' theme, the Studio 54-inspired space was completely taken over by tropical foliage and flowers, complete with a floral DJ, bartender, and dancers with (what else?) disco ball heads. Floral installations don't need to be relegated to the floor. At the 2022 Emmys after-party for Netflix, a stunning floral/lighting installation hung above the dance floor and was made of softly lit rattan pendants layered with floral clouds made of orchids, pampas grass, and dripping amaranthus designed by Floral Crush. (Consider our jaws dropped.) The event was produced by Best Events. See more: Emmys 2022: Inside Parties From Netflix, Disney, Paramount, and More

Another stunning floral installation created for a 2022 Emmys after-party? This dreamy, museum-inspired floral tunnel for the Disney soiree, where 'modern botanic brilliance' was the theme. Sterling Engagements worked with Shawna Yamamoto Event Design on floral design and decor. 'Modern botanic brilliance began by the simple idea to integrate jewel tones, botanical greens, and luxe blooms,' Alexandra Rembac, the founder and creative director at Sterling Engagements, told us last year. 'Then we added layers of European whimsy and alluring details.' See more: Emmys 2022: Inside Parties From Netflix, Disney, Paramount, and More

For Variety’s invitation-only Hitmakers Brunch at City Market Social House in Los Angeles (held at the end of 2022), Stoelt Productions designed the event's overall look and feel, which producer Matt Stoelt described as 'a chic, sustainable look using mostly all-natural materials and earth tones that played into the late-fall timing of the event.' He added that 'integral to the design was the amazing floral design provided by Michelle at 19 Stems and the inclusion of real wood, laser-cut table numbers, and wooden lanterns.' The team ended up bringing in more than 40 eight-foot palm trees of various species, spread throughout the space, and four different decor vendors to achieve a seamless, natural look.

Here’s what floral designers are working with this season.
“Dried flowers are coming back this year after a long hiatus. They will be popular for design due to their longevity, deep rich colors and added visual texture. Among the many popular dried flowers making a comeback are mini pampas grass, star grass, avena and helichrysum, which will be a popular species that designers are leaning towards integrating into arrangements with live flowers.” —Seth Pearsoll, director of design, shows and events for the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (Pictured: The Samantha from East Olivia's spring collection)
