Once a month, BizBash brings you even more inspiration for your own gatherings with our "Cool Event Ideas of the Month" column, where we round up some of the creative ideas we haven't had the chance to cover yet.

Our December 2024 roundup includes a Christmas tree made from medicine balls; a holiday party's bathroom-line karaoke; a climate change-inspired holiday sweater display; a truly gorgeous event designer showcase; and other clever ideas from brands like Gymshark, Ghirardelli, J.Crew, Moroccanoil, Netflix, Waymo, and more.

Gymshark's First NYC Pop-Up Shop
Gymshark's First NYC Pop-Up Shop
Gymshark's first official NYC pop-up shop is open through January 2025, ahead of the debut of the brand's first U.S. flagship store next year. Pink Sparrow was the design and build partner for the 3,800-square-foot space, located at 105 Wooster St. in SoHo, blending Gymshark's minimal but distinctive branding with holiday elements and a deep red and white color scheme. The space featured an entry tunnel with branded props leading to interactive displays.

Ghirardelli's Mystery Box
Ghirardelli's Mystery Box
Ghirardelli celebrated National Peppermint Bark Day with a unique caroling experience to welcome the return of its beloved seasonal offering. (This year marks the 20th anniversary of Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark, the limited-time fan favorite.) To celebrate, Ghirardelli delivered an oversize, wrapped gift box outside the Shops at the Oculus in New York to let passersby know that once holiday cheer reached an ultimate peak, something special would occur.

One by one, a guitarist, a violinist, carolers, and a brass band began singing “Deck the Halls,” inviting hundreds of strangers to join in the singing to raise the holiday spirit, and thus, the holiday meter. Once the holiday meter reached its peak, the mystery box opened to reveal more than 30,000 squares of free Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark.

A Night at Revelry
In late November, Revelry Event Designers’ 120,000-square-foot design studio in Downtown Los Angeles was transformed into a multisensory experience for 200 event planners, designers, and production experts. The event marked the first A Night at Revelry event since 2018 and featured highlights like a dramatic entrance framed by 25-foot red velvet draping and lush florals by Eddie Zaratsian. The evening was intended as a showcase of Revelry’s capabilities in custom fabrication, draping, lighting, and decor/design.

Netflix's 'No Good Deed' Premiere
Netflix's 'No Good Deed' Premiere
Netflix’s No Good Deed follows three families vying to buy the same house—so for its premiere event earlier this month, producers westhaus built a carpet that resembles the Spanish-style home from the series. The look at LA’s Tudor Theater featured a gated archway, a for-sale sign, and plenty of greenery.

Inside, the space was a warm, cozy lounge mimicking an inviting open house, including modern furniture, framed stills from the show, and other home accessories. A ticket brochure and business cards were used to bring a true open-house feel to the premiere.

FUSE's Climate Change-Inspired Holiday Window
FUSE's Climate Change-Inspired Holiday Window
As temperatures around the globe continue to rise, ad agency FUSE put a spin on the beloved holiday sweater tradition. Aiming to shine a light on climate change, the brand introduced “The Holiday Sweater: Climate Change Collection," which appeared in the company's window at 45 Ossington Ave. in Toronto all month. The FUSE team produced two original pieces for the “Climate Change Collection”: a one-piece swimsuit and a pair of swim trunks, each crafted from vintage holiday sweaters. By repurposing existing materials, FUSE ensured a lower carbon footprint for the project and helped create a conversation starter that combined a seasonal tradition with climate-conscious design.

J.Crew's 'Seasons of Love' Stunt
On Dec. 12, J.Crew celebrated the holiday season by treating consumers to a festive afternoon in downtown NYC. In the SoHo and NoLita neighborhoods, shoppers were delighted by a live rendition of “Seasons of Love” from the musical Rent, performed by NYU Tisch’s acclaimed a cappella group, N’Harmonics, outside the newest J.Crew locations. To further spread holiday cheer, J.Crew collaborated with popular NYC vendors Glace New York and Lil Sweet Treat, offering passersby complimentary hot cocoa and candy. Customers received tickets to claim these treats, with lucky winners finding "golden stickers" that granted them prizes like winter accessories, tote bags, or gift cards.

In mid-December, Kesha collaborated with Waymo for a surprise holiday season event at LA's Hamburger Mary’s celebrity impersonation night, “Mirror Image.” The audience was surprised when Kesha appeared alongside drag performers Heidi N Closet and Mayhem Miller during a performance of her hit single “Joyride.” Heidi and Miller also debuted “Delusion” live. Earlier in the event, drag queens Morgan McMichaels, Pandora Boxx, Judas Joe Manson, and Envi performed lip-syncs of songs from Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Stevie Nicks, and Kesha. The venue featured Kesha-themed memorabilia, exclusive merchandise, and specialty cocktails.
